     In the chapter 19 and 20 Max and Kenny go to a burned down building to hide until Iggy gets them a car.they went down to the basement to be safe.  Just so Max won't yell and scream Kenny put a piece of Max shirt in max's mouth. Kenny then goes up from the basement to discuss buisness with Iggy and Loretta comes down hoping to save Max. When she finally frees him Kenny comes down and sees. He starts chocking her and she is slowly dying. Max starts pushing at him and is yelling and saying "I see you daddy please please stop your killing her" and "I saw you kill mom  I never forget not ever". After Max is saying that Kenny gets mad and starts choking Max. Soon Kevin comes into the room and says he has a gun full of "sulfuric acid" and threatens to shoot it. Kenny does not believer him so Kevin shoots it right in Kennys eyes. Then they ran up the stairs and see cops everywhere and Kevin then says "it worked he fell for it soap vineger and curry powder" which is what the liquid in the water gun was made of.

In "Freak the Mighty" by Rodman Philbrick, I can relate to Max. I can relate to Max because his dad got arrested and my dad has gotten arrested before too. I can also relate to Freak because when I was younger, I got a squirt gun and filled it with water and soap to see if it would squirt bubbles. This connects to Freak because he added bubbles in his squirt gun. I can relate to Loretta and Iggy because my grandpa and great grandma have a cellar with old wet stairs in Idaho. I can also relate to Freak the Mighty because they fell onto the snow. When it snowed a lot one year, my brother pushed me into the snow and it made me stumble into the cold white flakes. Also I can relate to Loretta because I have tries to help someone but got hurt doing so. Once because I helped my sister cut an apple and I cut myself and another time helping my dad flip tortillas and oil splattered all over my face. Those are some connections I made while reading chapters 19 through 20 in "Freak the Mighty".

Summary 

In chapter 17 a lot happens the first thing that happens was they went to a apartment that obviously looked like it had had been broken into because the door has been busted in and the lock broke. After that Kenny Kane tells Max that  he needs to listen to exactly what he say no matter what. Next Kenny tells Max that while in jail he sent him presents and letters and he ask Max if they gave them to him and of course they didnt . I think that Maxs dad is liing  because I think that Gram and Grim would give the gifts to him. In chapter 19 not a lot happend. Well first the cops were looking for Max and Freak was too. When the cops showed up you can tell that Kenny was worried that he would get caught. Oh yah and this whole time Max was tied to a rope so if he wouldn't try to run off from Kenny

I chose this picture to represent the sagging furniture because it's mentioned a lot and I really thought it was an important thing because it shows how old the place is they're staying in.

 Some connections I can make between my life and the text are not knowing what to do in a terrifying situation. One time I had a dream that I was being kidnapped and I didn't know what to do. I finally just ran away from everything and away from everything and I woke up then. Another connection I can make between my life and the text is having my friend go missing. One time I had this friend named Shylo and even though we were at a big age difference we were friends. So I tried to call her and she didn't pick up and I was worried and she didn't actually turn up for a few days. It scared me half to death because we were really good friends. Some connections I can make between my life and the text are getting an alert that a child went missing you know the ones you get on your phone. Moving on to wider world I can connect to going through a rough spot while on the run. I watch murder shows and kidnapping shows a lot and I always see people suffering while hiding from the police. I always say you shouldn't have done what you did. Like one time in particular I saw this guy who was running from the cops because of murdering someone and he was out in the sewer and I kind of fely bad for him. One author I can relate to this author would be Veronica Roth. I can relate to her and the current author because they both write the same: like they just want to finish the book. They don't give much details in my opinion,  in depth. They do in some things like setting but not really how people look. It's always hard imagining their characters.- Kyla Stotko

This visual is signifacant To the chapters 14-15 because Gwen is given a red scarf from Gram for Christmas.         

  Some connections I made between this reading and my own experiences, the wider world,and other texts and authors are that in the book I read "Harry Potter and the goblet of Fire" is that Harry got a sweater for Christmas and so did Grim.  Another connection I can make is that my dad one time put his hand on my mouth when i was sleeping and that is what happened to Max.  One time when I went to check on my presents I found a wierdly shaped one and Max got a triangle shaped one from Freak.  Also when I went to a party it was dark but I knew where I was going just like Max did when his father was taking him to the testaments.  How Kevin was wearing the suit jacket it reminded me of my brother not wanting to wear the new jacket my dad bought him.  I can also connect to how Max's teeth were chattering but he was not cold because that was exactly what happened to me when I was going to bed I don't know why.  I can connect because one time on Christmas I got to open one present and in the chapter it tells us arule that they are only allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve and then the rest on the real Christmas day.  My last detail to connect with is that I went to a house once and they offered terrible food but I ate it

Protecting Max

I drew this photo Becuase in the middle of chapter 14  Max was in his room wrapping a gift when he heard grim and gram arguing about protection.

I chose this picture because it represents when Grim was serving in the army before and he uses this fact to try and convince Gram to let him use brute force (a gun) to protect his family/home.

Wrapping Gifts.

Every year on Christmas my brothers attempt to give everyone gifts but they always end up just putting some of their old belongings in a brown paper bag. This connects to the story because in chapter 14 Max is preparing some presents for I guess Christmas.

Buying/using a ranged weapon.

I actually have a Boy Scout style bow and arrows that I shoot at fake targets. This relates to the chapter because we are told that Grim is determined to protect his family and home from Killer Kane even if he has to resort to violence to do it.

The Army.

I actually have a relative who used to be in the army (I haven't seen him in a while so I don't know if he still is). This relates to the story because as we are informed we now know that Grim used to serve in the army.

          In chapter 14 of Freak the Mighty the chapter starts off with the rearrival of Freak coming back from the hospital. We then switch to Max trying to "get the stupid wrapping paper to cover the stupid presents I got for Gram and Grim" when he hears them yelling. He then starts to eavesdrop on the conversation and learns that Grim intends to shoot Killer Kane aka Max's dad if he dares to come close to his life again. Grim then later on goes to the Down Under to have a talk with Max who agrees that his father must be kept away at all costs even if Grim has to used a gun he resently bought.

Summary

In chapter 14 we learned that Freak gets out of the hospital after choking on American Chop Suey, and since that happened Freaks mother, Fair Gwen, says he has to stay inside until she says otherwise. After that when Max went home, down under, he hears Grim and Gram arguing about getting a gun, Max says that they are so loud that he doesn't even have to put his ear against the door to hear. Next Grim goes down under to talk to Max about his father, Grim tells Max that no they have a restraining order and that if Killer Kane gets anywhere near them he'll go back to prison. Max tells Grim that he should get a gun. At the end of the chapter Grim makes Max promise that he will stay inside the house for the next few days and that's when Max says "I cross my heart and hope to die."

Summary 

In the begging of chapter 12 Max went shopping for back to school clothes and soon he finds out that he is going to be in all the same classes as Kevin. In one of their classes Max and freak were answering a question and things got out of control and soon everyone starts chanting  "freak the mighty.....freaky the mighty". They then ended up in the principals office. In chapter 13 Max gets called up to the principals office Becuase his dad wanted him to do something. He denied it at went to lunch. At lunch freak had an allergic reaction to American chop suey. In the end he ended up having to go to the hospital.

 This picture represents the ambulance that drove Freak to the hospital when he had an allergic reation in school and had to be taken to the hospital. Max tried to get in there with Freak but they wouldn't let him in. I think that was an important part of the book because it really showed Freak's disease with the reaction. It also was one of the real twists in the story.

  Some connections I can make between the novel and the wider world could be not being able to breathe and choking. People choke on stuff all the time, but mostly little kids. When my sister was sucking on a big lemon hard candy,  she ran out of her room saying she was choking,  it was really scary. Another connection I can make with wider world situations would be with going away in an ambulance with not a real emergency. That reminds me of my nerdy uncle who works in the medical field and works with that kind of stuff. I can connect to my schema,  also,  with Max having a dad he probably wants nothing to do with. I have an uncle from my dad's side that's a alcohol addict. I mean he was sneaking into the fridge at 4 in the morning downing liquor and all my dad's alcohol. He also has a son named Kenny and now little Kenny, that's what we call him,  wants nothing to do with his alcoholic dad anymore. I can also connect with an emergency with choking and stuff. Like I said before,  when my sister was choking. I didn't know what to do really so I just panicked. I can connect to other texts with the novel and Deep and Dark and Dangerous a little. It reminds me of when Ali is trying to take care of Emma and Emma just wants to hang out with Sissy. Well Freak just wants to hang out with Max and Max is just trying to care for Freak
